Test

Even if you're not a sports fan, you've still got a 50/50 chance of picking the correct answer.

Which is being described below, the NBA...
or the NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

19 have been accused of writing bad checks

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently are defendants in lawsuits

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is? NBA or NFL?

Neither. It's the 535 members of the newest United States Congress!

Yes, the same group of people that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.
Pretty scary, huh?

You ever see the movie "Mars Attacks"? There was a scene where a Martian was addressing a joint session of Congress and in the middle of the speech he pulls out a ray gun and disintegrates them all. An old lady watching the speech at home sees this and laughs out loud, and points to the TV and exclaims, "They killed Congress!!"

Would it be too rude to say I hope the Martians show up soon? Our Congress is seriously F'd up. I'd love to get rid of all 535 of them, and their staffers, and all the lobbyists, and start over.

But everyone thinks their own congressman is a saint. Try to unseat one of the crooks and chances are you won't.

I knew it wasn't the NFL, because there was no mention of an arrest for dog fighting.

As I was reading down the list, I was saying to myself that these could be people from either league. Then when I saw the number 117, Congress came to mind. But scary indeed! Then again, aren't they representatives of the general populace? Guess that makes unique rather than general. :-)

Such a muscular dog in the last photo. ;-)
