Crazy week

Not really me  ;-)
This is a crazy week!

On Mon I had 2 walk-thrus followed by 2 settlements.  I had another walk-thru and settlement scheduled for Tues but it had to be delayed to today, due to an issue with the seller.

I'm normally off on Thurs but I'm working this Thurs because I have a home inspection in the morning and a showing in the afternoon.

Spouse & I are leaving Thurs evening and will stay overnight at his sister's house in VA.  Then Fri morning we're picking up my aunt Mary and driving to Fayetteville NC for my niece's wedding.  More on that next week.

So this is definitely an unusual week.

Showings and offers and contracts - oh my!

Wow, work has been so busy for me!  Being a real estate agent in a beach resort area you'd think I'd be crazy busy all summer long and then things would cool off when the weather cooled off.

Not so!  In the last 2 weeks I showed dozens of properties, and just this week I've written 5 offers!  I don't think I've ever written that many offers in a single week before.

And while I'm certainly not complaining about being busy (remember I don't get paid unless I go to closing), I just kind of wished this wasn't going on at the same time as Frank's passing.  On Sun when we were in VA I excused myself a couple of times to take work phone calls and close some deals.  I felt bad that I couldn't just spend the day with the family.

Looking at this from a different perspective, the timing of all these deals closing in late Nov and early Dec will mean that we will have the ability to be a little more generous when Christmas shopping, and will still be able to put away money for my quarterly tax payment.

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.

Busted

OK - I admit it.  I've been busted.
My work and personal life have been SOOO busy that I have not been able to keep up with my blog.  For several years now I've been posting once daily Mon-Fri but lately I've gotten very behind.

So I've been creating posts and back-dating them so my blog shows no gaps in posts, and a couple of you readers busted me.  Apparently you have alerts that notify you when post and you catch my back-dating.

I know, its kind of like cheating, but I didn't know what else to do.  I don't want to have a gap of several days (or several weeks!) on my blog.  I know this hectic pace won't last forever so I will eventually be able to catch back up and post in 'real time'.

So forgive me for being shady and back-dating my posts.  I promise to try and do better!

Work, work, work

Wow, work has been so busy lately!

Of course when you are paid only by commission like I am, you're happy to be busy.  Despite the bleak national real estate news, our local real estate market is hopping.

I've even heard from people who are choosing to invest in real estate rather than the stock market since mortgage rates are historically low and buying now while prices are low will likely result in a profit in years to come when the real estate market fully rebounds.

There are also people who have been dreaming of owning a home or condo at the beach all their lives, and with prices and interest rates both low, they now feel like this dream can become a reality for them.

I've been working like crazy.  I've had scheduled days off, but it seems like lately I've wound up needing to show property, write offers, respond to counters, or do something work-related on these days off.  So being this busy seems to be both a blessing and a curse.

Earth Day

Sorry for the abbreviated posts yesterday and today. Work has been busier than usual and I didn't have any entries started for either day that I could simply put the finishing touches on and post.

But, happy
Earth Day!
