Calvin, one of my faithful readers, asked for a Walter update. This caused me to realize that I hadn't posted any recent photos of him or written much about him lately. So here we go!
This photo taken in late Dec actually shows both Marvin (white) and Walter (tan) sleeping on my lap. I sitting on a chaise with my legs straight out in front of me, providing them with a nice, level 'bed'. Moments like this make me wish I could stop time.
I love the way 1 of Walter's ears stands up and the other 1 flops over in this photo. Unlike Marvin whose ears are always standing up, Walter's ears can be up or down at any given time. Maybe this is because of his age, I don't know, nor do I care.
In this photo Walter is sleeping in the 'crook' of my leg, which is bent at the knee. Such peacefulness and trust make my heart melt.
But its not always so light-hearted around our house. This winter has been colder than usual and we've had snow accumulate on the ground 3 times in the last month, so we haven't been walking him. Without walks he doesn't get as much opportunity to expend pent up energy, so sometimes he playfully bites me, which hurts even though he doesn't mean it. His house training has been challenging too, but I'm hopeful that he will get back into the groove now that milder weather is here.

ADORABLE! (But, then, you know that already.) Be patient with him..he wants to learn as much as you want to teach him. He'll get there...and you'll be thr prouf pappa when he does. Have you tried Bitter Apple for the biting? You spray it on your hands and they don't like the flavor of it. Might assist in deterring the playful biting. Training class was REALLY helpful with both of our "kids." Good luck and keep posting those pics. can't wait to meet him!
That last one is adorable!
look at how big walter is! who's a good dog? WHO'S a GOOD DOG?
Thanks for this post Mark. The pictures are great. Walter is one cute little guy!

He is the most adorable puppy I've seen in a zillion years! His uneven ears are so sweet! I hope they stay like that, it makes him 100% more cute!
The next time he bites you scream like your dying. It will scare him to pieces, and might cause him to bite you a time or two again quickly. But do the dying swan act and he will get the idea that his biting hurts you. It worked for one of our dogs, when NOTHING else worked.
Such a cutie.
Walter is so cute! and good name
