Today is going to be another scorcher! While temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s may not sound that hot to those of you in dry AZ, here on the east coast its not only hot but also humid. So today's 93 degrees will feel like something over 100 degrees due to the humidity.
Dehydration can occur quickly in weather like this so I'm reminding everyone to be sure and drink plenty of water.
'Tales of the Sissy' is a play on words related to Armistead Maupin's novel 'Tales of the City' which chronicles the daily lives of several seemingly unrelated people. Since my blog chronicles my daily life and I am gay (hence the stereotype 'sissy'), I decided to call my blog 'Tales of the Sissy'.

Splash
I've written many times about how I sing in the LEGENDS show, sing karaoke, and see national talent like Coco Peru, Miss Richfield 1981, Kimberley Locke, and others at the Blue Moon. Over the last 4+ years I have become friends with the owners and have enjoyed their generosity on several occasions.
The latest occasion for enjoying their generosity was yesterday. It was the Blue Moon employee appreciation day at Jungle Jims, our local waterpark. While the entertainers like me are not technically employees, we were all invited. The Blue Moon owners rented out the water park for the day and had food and beverages brought in for us. It was very, very nice!
Despite my living here for over 7 years and having visited here for more than 20 years, I'd never been to Jungle Jims before. I guess I'd assumed that water parks were for kids. Well I was wrong. It was a lot of fun to zip down the multiple water slides and drift down the lazy river in a tube.
It is a pleasure to work with people who appreciate those who work for/with them! If you are ever in the Rehoboth Beach area, be sure to patronize the Blue Moon restaurant and bar.

Dieting
So after a brief hiatus (okay, 6 months) from my diet, I started back on it. God, it is so boring.
One of the things about dieting that I resent is that I have to constantly think about food! Friends want to go out to dinner and ask where we want to go. I then immediately try and think of places that - not taste terrific, but - have low calorie options. And I believe everyone who's ever read this blog knows how daddy likes him a Cosmo now and then. Well, alcohol is a definite no-no when you're dieting.
The diet that makes the most sense for me is Weight Watchers. It forces you to convert food into points and then not exceed the points that match your weight. It works. A few years ago I lost 40 lbs on Weight Watchers. But I guess I'm lazy and I just get so damn tired of constantly watching what I eat and having to think about food.
One of the 'tricks' I've used with success is drinking water. Its no secret - every diet tells you to drink lots of water. But sometimes I get so hungry that I feel sick to my stomach. I don't want to eat something if its not 'meal time', so I will drink water. That will often quiet down my stomach and carry me over until its time to eat a meal. And I TOTALLY make use of those chemical-laden, artificially flavored water enhancers because they give water flavor. I don't care if they contain red dye #5, if they make water taste like a virgin cocktail, I'm in!!
