Friday fragments

Welcome to Friday fragments, my weekly recap of topics too big to forget, yet too small to be their own post.

We haven't replaced our Honda CRV yet. Our friend and used car dealer Bryan is looking for the right combination of vehicle + low mileage + price. We're hoping to get a Honda CRV, Infinity FX35, BMW X5 or X3, Mercedes ML320, or Nissan Murano. Fortunately we aren't under any pressure to find a car right away so hopefully we'll find what we really want.

As I mentioned in last Friday's fragments, despite having ordered this sticker weeks ago, I finally gave up waiting for it and mailed our census form last Fri without the sticker. Naturally, the sticker arrived in the mail today. Folks, if you're gonna start a little 'grass roots' movement, try and get your fulfillment together so people who bother to join your effort can actually do it.

My friend Jared, who regularly supplies me with humorous photos for Friday fragments, sent me - not 1 or 2 - but 4 gems this week! Click on each to enlarge them.

Yes, those are roses made of bacon!! Naturally Stephen Rader was the 1st person I thought of when I saw them.

Spouse went to traffic court yesterday for his accident. He and many others were given the option of waiving their right to a trial in exchange for an expedient exit from the courtroom. Spouse's ticket was for failure to yield the right of way, so he paid the fine and court costs which totalled $89. and was out of there in no time. While there he happened to overhear the officer talking with the other driver involved in the accident and learned that at the time of the accident the guy was driving on a suspended license and did not have insurance. So that guy was in court NOT for Spouse's case, but because of citations he'd received for driving on a suspended license and not having insurance.

On Mon I mentioned that we had put an offer on another foreclosure condo, along with several other people. We found out yesterday that the bank accepted one of the other offers, so we'll keep looking.

The weather is supposed to be crappy this weekend so maybe we'll finish organizing the stuff necessary to file our taxes. Now THAT sounds like an exciting weekend!

I'm waiting till April 1 to send in the Census form. I have to make sure my heart's still ticking that day before the gov't counts me.

I kind of feel sorry for the Queer the Census people. I'm guessing this all started out as a good idea and they had absolutely no idea how popular this would be and they were completely overcome with orders and no way to mail them all out expediently. I'm sure I'll receive my sticker around April 15.

I hear you can print your own sticker, but I neither have a color printer nor sticker paper. Taping on a sheet of white copy paper is kind of dumb, so I guess I'll do without.

The bacon bouquet looks fantastic! You have my address, please mail me one :-)

Have a good weekend Mark!

I, too, ordered my little sticker but doubt it'll get here anytime soon. Besides, I've already sealed the envelope. Eh...what's one more gay man.

If you're sending out bacon bouquets then I definitely want two!

I did my taxes and already have my refunds. Yay for me. Have a good weekend. BEHR HUGS to you and Spouse.

I don't want to be a Donnie Downer, but I never got on board for Queering the Census. The sticker is supposed to go on the outside of the envelope; who, exactly, is going to see that? I'm sure there are not actual human beings opening up those millions of envelopes (and if there are, you can bet they are not in a position to make any sort of changes to the census survey). So who am I trying to impress, my letter carrier? If I were ever lucky enough to have the same carrier for more than a month, I'm sure they would figure things out on their own, based on the periodicals I get.

You have no idea how much I LOVE the fact that bacon roses remind you of me.

Wasn't that a Marie Osmond song? "Bacon Roses..." :)
