Cinco de Mayo celebration

So, Sat was Cinco de Mayo, making it the perfect excuse (as if we needed one) for dinner at Dos Locos.  Steven & Thad were away in NJ but I managed to rustle up some buddies to join us.

Everyone ordered margaritas because, DUH! its Cinco de Mayo.  But oddly 3 of us ordered the same entree and 4 of us ordered variations of quesadillas.  As usual, the food was delicious and the service was terrific.

You'll notice in the photos that we're all wearing red chili pepper necklaces.  I collected them on Cinco de Mayo 3 years ago at Dos Locos and brought them for our group to wear.  As we stood up to leave a table of women said they liked our pepper necklaces and asked where we'd gotten them.  I explained, and then took off my 2 pepper necklaces and gave them to 2 of the women.  Then Spouse offered his, followed by the rest of the guys.  I jokingly said we were 'paying it forward' by giving them the pepper necklaces, and that next year they should wear them but give them away to someone else before they leave.  They loved that idea.

What did YOU do to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo!

If you've been reading this blog for a few years you'll know I love me a good Cinco de Mayo celebration!  Like I really need an excuse to drink margaritas and eat delicious Mexican food...

For the last several years we've gone to Dos Locos and this year was no exception.  It was a smaller group than usual, as a couple of friends had other plans, etc.  So this year it was just Spouse & me and Steven.

Cinco de Mayo

Today is Cinco de Mayo!

I've decided that Cinco de Mayo is my new favorite holiday.  There are no gifts to buy or wrap, no cards to send, and no travel required.  We just eat Mexican food and drink margaritas.  What could be easier and more fun?!?!

As usual, Spouse & I went to Dos Locos with Steven, Joe P, and Bob.  (Thad was at a spinning class.)  The food is always terrific and the atmosphere is lively and fun.  Spouse & I wore our Dos Locos Cinco de Mayo t-shirts, given to us by the owners (who are also our friends) on previous Cinco de Mayo visits.

Notice my T-shirt from Cinco de Mayo 2015.  I'm uncharacterically wearing my glasses; giving my eyes a break from long-term contact lens use.  I don't know why I posed for this photo sipping on a straw.  I never drink margaritas from a straw, since the rim of the glass is salted.

As usual, we had a great time.  Fortunately we arrived just before the crowd.  We were seated right away, but there were lots of folks waiting for tables when we were leaving.

Cinco de Mayo!

So yesterday was Cinco de Mayo and we celebrated as we have for the last couple years by having margaritas and Mexican food with Steven & Thad and Joe P at Dos Locos!  I was happy that Patrick was still here so he could join us too.

We are friends with the owners who always go out of there way to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated.  The past 2 years Spouse & I have gotten free Dos Locos/Cinco de Mayo T-shirts so we wore them to dinner last night.  This year in addition to new T-shirts we also received crazy shades.

Everyone's fabric napkins were wrapped in red Mardi Gras beads with red chili peppers on them. Since no one at our table wanted to keep theirs but me, I took them all.
As we were leaving the restaurant several patrons looked at all my peppers and asked what I had to do to get so many, to which I responded "I'm ashamed to say!"  This produced surprised looks and laughter.  Even folks sitting on benches as we walked toward the boardwalk made comments about all my peppers.  They were quite the conversation piece!

Once on the boardwalk Patrick & I took a selfie with the ocean behind us, which you can't see because it was night.
We had an awesome Cinco de Mayo celebration and hope you all did too.

Today was Cinco de Mayo, and in honor of Marvin Parker's heritage, we met up with Steven & Thad and Joe P at Dos Locos for margaritas and Mexican food!

A fun time was had by all!

Cinco de Mayo

Last evening we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with Steven & Thad and Joe P at Dos Locos.

Their large margaritas were only $3.50 so of course I had to have 2.  The food was terrific as usual and we had a lot of fun.
