Do-Si-Dos (peanut butter sandwich cookies) |
Tagalongs (chocolate covered peanut butter cookies). |
But this year my joy was tempered a bit when I noticed that the cookies appear to be shrinking in both size and quantity. Is it just me??
The Do-Si-Dos come stacked in 2 cellophane sleeves in the box, and the box seems smaller this year, no doubt due to the smaller size of the cookies.
The Tangalongs come in a plastic tray with separators between the cookies, and the separators now take up as much space as the cookies.
I remember paying $2.75 per box years ago, and I know that nothing stays the same price forever, but the cookies are now $4.00 per box. I guess I'm feeling like the flavor pay-off is getting harder to justify with the smaller cookie size and the increasing price.
But the truth is that I will always order a box of Do-Si-Dos and Tagalongs every year because its my thing. I do it every year, and I really do enjoy the cookies. But that doesn't mean I won't complain a little.

I don't know any girl scouts; my faves are thin mints, trefoils, and the lemon ones.
re the tagalongs - no no no, buy tastykake kandy kakes; made in philly and so damn much better AND bigger! if in doubt, ask your spouse about this.
I'm a fan of the tagalong, although what's up with calling them Peanut Butter Patties now?
Anne Marie - I LOVE Tastykakes. They are very hard to find here in the midwest and if I do happen to see them I snap them up. I'm also not above putting a few boxes in my luggage when I visit the northeast. Kandy Kakes and Butterscotch Krimpets are my personal favorites.
@robert: WOO HOO! philly food is da bomb!
I can send you some if you want. PM me girl9654 at the yahoo place.
There was quite a while when I didn't order GS cookies. And then when I finally decided to support again, I was struck by how small the boxes had become.
Correct. You have chosen correctly.
Thin Mints (refrigerated) and Savannah Smiles are my faves. Have you seen Dryer's ice cream with Girl Scout cookies blended in... YUM!
It's not you, I've noticed this (what seems like) every year. However, bc of the GS's progressive policies, the wing nuts and One Million Moms are boycotting them. So we must all do our part and support the Girl Scouts of America!
