After Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is over.

Yesterday we lost power at 4:15.  Spouse & I lit some candles and sat around and talked for a while.  A couple times we dozed off.  Finally at 8:30 we were both bored and a little tired so we decided to go to bed.  This morning the power came back on at 7:45.  The driving ban was lifted at 10am so   Spouse & I took Marvin for a good, long walk and then went for a drive to see how the area fared.  We were pleased to see less damage that we expected.  We had lunch at one of the places that had re-opened and then came back home.

We were SOOOO fortunate compared to the NJ shore & NYC.

Glad to hear you guys weathered it out without issue.

Here in RI the extreme coastal areas like Misquamicut, Block Island and Newport all got hit pretty hard. For example the Cliff Walk in Newport was severely damaged, and Misquamicut really got hit badly.

But here in Providence the power never even went out.

no troubles at my house; but that wind scared the shit outta me!

however, my office was closed for 2 days due to no electricity/phones/internet.

my boss's house lost power sunday evening during the storm; it was not restored until this past sunday! he has propane heat and a generator, and he lives only 1 hour north of me.

Good news for you. We in Australia have seen on television the devastating impact that occurred elsewhere.
